mybiodata was founded in 2006 to provide IT solutions and services for health-care settings and biomedical research.

In a trend towards personalized medicine, diagnostic and therapeutic decisions are guided by an ever increasing variety of data from specialized high throughput measurements and genotypic information. The use of these data typically requires specialized analysis tools, integrating bioinformatics and expert interpretation systems.

At the same time, the development and testing of improved therapeutic and diagnostic approaches requires an intensified collaboration between the health-care providers and biomedical researchers. In particular, researchers need access to clinical data to build and evaluate new guidance systems, and therapeutic guidance system may need to be updated regularly with revisions of analysis tools provided by researchers.

It is this growing need that mybiodata wishes to address, with consideration for the particular needs in these environments including patient privacy, data security, and ethical considerations.

The company founders draw from their vast experience in IT solutions for research and health-care settings, in particular in the field HIV treatment. This experience is continuously extending through their association with the University of Leuven, Belgium and the Centro Hospitalar de Lisboa Ocidental.
